Additive Manufacturing Europe 2016 reveals full speaker line-up

Organizers have announced further details of the three-day conference running alongside the exhibition at Additive Manufacturing Europe, taking place 28-30 June at RAI Amsterdam.

The conference program features some of the most prominent names in the 3D printing / additive manufacturing sector alongside a wide range of case studies focused on different sectors – healthcare (28 June), aerospace (29 June) and automotive (30 June). Conference sponsor SmarTech Markets Publishing will start each day with an overview of the most exciting developments for that particular sector.

Session highlights:

28 June – healthcare

  • Exploring the technologies transforming orthopedics – Joseph Robinson, Stryker
  • Personal approaches to additive manufacturing through your consultant – Dr Muhanad Hatamleh, King’s College Hospital
  • Dental and orthopedic applications case study – Karsten Tegtmeyer, Dentsbay
  • Ceramic production: medical applications and opportunities – Dr Grégory Nolens, CERHUM

29 June – aerospace

  • Developing high performance materials for aerospace applications – Marko Bosman, Fokker-GKN Aerospace
  • Driving innovation, agility and efficient business models – Hayden Osborn, Boeing
  • The digital revolution in manufacturing – Dr Chris Sutcliffe, Renishaw / University of Liverpool

30 June – automotive

  • Advancing towards production and exploring what can be achieved – Dr Phil Reeves, Stratasys Strategic Consulting
  • How functional is functional? An automotive perspective – Sven Martens, Airbus APWorks
  • Design optimization to produce lighter parts without compromising strength – Stuart Banyard, KW Special Projects

Joining speakers on panel discussions are some of the leading experts in additive manufacturing, including:

  • Professor Richard Hague, Head of Additive Manufacturing Research, University of Nottingham
  • Dr Candice Majewski, Lecturer, Mechanical Engineering, Centre for Advanced Additive Manufacturing (AdAM), University of Sheffield
  • Joan Guasch, Public Programs Director, EURECAT Technology Centre of Catalonia

The full program is available at

UL AM workshops

In addition to the conference program, UL will present three separate one-day workshops during the show. This training will cover some of the most important topics in the industry, from understanding the benefits and limitations of different 3D printing technologies and materials through to advanced design and testing.

  • Fundamentals of additive manufacturing designs (28 June)
  • Design strategies for additive manufacturing (29 June)
  • Managing quality and safety in additive manufacturing (30 June)

UL is a leading provider of AM training programs and these workshops have been specially adapted for the show. Each workshop will run from 9:00 to 18:00 and course fees include lunch and refreshments. In order to encourage interaction, seating will be very limited, so delegates are advised to book their places soon. The full program, including pricing, is available at

The exhibition will feature technology from leading companies including BigRep, EnvisionTEC, Formlabs, Höganäs, Mcor / AGA 3D Color Solutions, Prodways, Smit Röntgen (Philips), Trumpf, UL and Ultimaker. The full ecosystem of AM / 3D printing technologies will be on display, including additive manufacturing systems, 3D printers for design / prototyping, materials, finishing solutions and inspection, metrology, scanning and digitizing equipment.

Lisa Milburn, Managing Director of Additive Manufacturing Shows, commented: “We are privileged to be able to present such an impressive group of speakers. They represent some of the most exciting practical applications of additive manufacturing / 3D printing and, together with the exhibition and UL AM workshops, make Additive Manufacturing Europe 2016 impossible to miss.”

An early registration rate is available until 10 June, with all-inclusive conference tickets costing €150+VAT. Expo only tickets are also available at €20+VAT. Visitors can register online at
